  1. Something I have learned over the years is to plant really wide rows of carrots, beets, kolorabi, lettuce and things like that. You eliminate a lot of wasted ground for paths. If you can reach to the center of the row to weed and thin plants then it works. You end up growing more in a smaller space. I have a collection of 30+ year old Organic Gardening Magazines and they suggested that. I have been doing it for years.

    • That’s a good idea. I change the way my plots are set up each year, trying new things. This set up is to try to deal with nasty rhizomous grass. I battle it all summer.
